Frequently Asked Questions
I’m new to trail running. Will I be able to keep up?
Absolutely. Our runs are designed to be inclusive and pressure-free. Our Mavens know how to set the tone , warm, encouraging, and grounded , to support all paces and experiences. You just need to show up as you are.
Is it okay if I push the pace?
Yes , run strong if that’s where you’re at. Our Mavens are skilled in holding space for all kinds of runners. It’s not about slowing down or speeding up , it’s about moving together with awareness and respect. Fast is welcome, too.
Do I need to RSVP?
No RSVP needed , just come along. If it’s your first time with us, please take a moment to complete the one-time waiver. It’s quick, and helps us keep things safe and supported.
Do I need to pay?
Nope. These runs are free. Always have been. They’re part of how we give back and grow community , together, on the trails.
I don’t have trail running shoes , does that matter?
Not at all. Please still come , regular runners are totally fine to begin with. Trail running shoes do give you extra grip and confidence on rough or muddy ground, so they’re worth exploring if you fall in love with the dirt (which many do).
What should I bring?
Every trail is different, but here’s what helps:
- Water or hydration fluid (especially in summer)
- Electrolytes , tablets or powder
- A small snack (gel, bar, dried fruit)
- Trail shoes (if you have them)
- Lightweight waterproof jacket in winter
- Basic first aid: snack bandage (in Aus), especially in bushy locations
- Weather-appropriate layers

Are these runs just for women?
Yes, Her Trails group runs are women-led and created with women at the centre. This is your space to move in your own rhythm, feel supported, and connect with others on the trail. Everyone is welcome to respect and honour that focus.
What if I need to walk?
Walking is not just okay, it’s often part of the rhythm. With trail running, the terrain changes constantly and hills are a great time to hike it out. Many of our groups also have a dedicated hike option, so you’re never alone in taking things at your pace.
Where can I complete the waiver?
